    Preparation for professional self-regulation.John M. Braxton & Leonard L. Baird - 2001 - Science and Engineering Ethics 7 (4):593-610.
This article asserts that graduate study should include preparation for participation in the process of self-regulation to assure the responsible conduct of research in the scientific community. This article outlines the various ways in which doctoral study can incorporate such preparation. These suggested ways include the inculcation of general attitudes and values about professional self-regulation, various ways doctoral study can be configured so that future scientists are prepared to participate in the deterrence, detection and sanctioning of scientific wrongdoing. The stages (...)

    The undesired selves of repressors.Leonard S. Newman, Tracy L. Caldwell & Thomas D. Griffin - 2008 - Cognition and Emotion 22 (4):709-719.
People with a repressive coping style are highly motivated to defend themselves against self-concept threats. But what kinds of unfavourable personal characteristics are they most focused on avoiding? Weinberger (Citation1990) suggested that repressors are primarily concerned with seeing themselves (and having others see them) as calm, unemotional people who are not prone to experiencing negative affect. A content analysis of the actual (self-ascribed) and undesired attributes of 349 male and female college students, however, provided no support for that hypothesis. Instead, (...)

Media for Coping During COVID-19 Social Distancing: Stress, Anxiety, and Psychological Well-Being.Allison L. Eden, Benjamin K. Johnson, Leonard Reinecke & Sara M. Grady - 2020 - Frontiers in Psychology 11.
In spring 2020, COVID-19 and the ensuing social distancing and stay-at-home orders instigated abrupt changes to employment and educational infrastructure, leading to uncertainty, concern, and stress among United States college students. The media consumption patterns of this and other social groups across the globe were affected, with early evidence suggesting viewers were seeking both pandemic-themed media and reassuring, familiar content. A general increase in media consumption, and increased consumption of specific types of content, may have been due to media use (...)

    Procuring Organs From a Non-Heart-Beating Cadaver: Commentary on a Case Report.Margaret L. Campbell & Leonard J. Weber - 1995 - Kennedy Institute of Ethics Journal 5 (1):35-42.
Procurement of organs from non-heart-beating cadaver donors raises concerns. Standards for optimal patient care during withdrawal of life-sustaining therapy are evolving and continue to be debated and studied. Consensus on specific procedures and methods has not been attained, however, and protocols for the procurement of organs from patients following the withdrawal of life-sustaining therapies may compromise the evolving standards and harm the patient and the attendant family. In addition, there is little evidence to suggest that such protocols will significantly increase (...)

For teachers and students of contemporary debates in pragmatism, diversity, and value theory, these conversations' define new-and controversial-terrain.

L.T. Hobhouse: Principles of Sociology : The Rational Good/the Elements of Social Justice/Social Development/the Metaphysical Theory of the State/L.Leonard Trelawny Hobhouse - 1918 - London: Routledge.
Leonard Trelawney Hobhouse is considered one of the founders of sociology as a discipline. His four books which form Principles of Sociology are published here together for the first time - representing a synthesis of the philosophical and scientific methods of social inquiry. Although very scarce, the study by Hobson and Ginsberg is still regarded as the most comprehensive account of Hobhouse's life and works. There is also a memoir by Hobson and a selection of Hobhouse's otherwise inaccessible writings.

Waiting and lateness: The context, implications, and basic argumentation of Derrida's “awaiting (at) the arrival” (s'attendre à l'arrivée) in aporias.Leonard Lawlor - 2008 - Research in Phenomenology 38 (3):392-403.
In Derrida's last book (posthumously published in 2006), L'animal que donc je suis, there is a kind of refrain: “il ne suffit pas de …” (it is not sufficient or enough to . . . ). Derrida utters this refrain in relation to all the discourses on animality and animal suffering found in the Western philosophical tradition. None of these discourses are sufficient. This last book revolves then around the idea of an insufficient (not enough) response. The idea of an (...)
